“One of the greatest art documentary, political, social film”. (Binna Choi, Casco)

  • Honest ethnographic documentary from low-middle skilled migrant workers in NL
  • Real human journey: when the dreams, naiveness, strong will and fortune become multilayered puzzle of life
  • The living narrative from the saying : where there is a will, there is a way.. No matter the consequences
  • The dark side of the globalisation: the world has become globalised yet spiky at the same time: be ware!!!!

“This movie has a personal value for me because it is the reality that my Indonesian community in the Netherlands is facing. I am grateful for the production of this film and hope to open more dialogue among stakeholders to improve the situation. What fascinates me is also the chosen title “Dispereert Niet” which is adopted from J.P.Z Coen’s motto to highlight his VOC glory. And now this motto is being used by the modern Indonesian migrants to reclaim their glory. I find this an important stepping stone to bridge the historical context of the Dutch colony and the modern Indonesian migrant condition. An open platform for new views are needed to open barriers and opportunities.

Furthermore, I think this part One of “Dispereert Niet” should be continued with a part Two. Part One is a great introduction to the situation of the migrants in the Netherlands… showing what are the challenges and what is the problem. Part Two should breakdown the chain that started this desperation of migrants: BRING DOWN THE CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES that lure Indonesian people to come to the Netherlands with false hope. Let the real justice prevail and protect our people from such acts.

We, the Indonesian community stands by everybody that contributes in building a justified society. Let’s start the dialogue with an open mind and an open heart.
